Hypothetical 2

Once again, you have won a WSOP Package, and have performed very well being in about 400th position in chips. There are now only 901 players left in the tournament, and the top 900 get paid starting at $13,000 US dollars.
Once again, Under the gun goes all in, and mid position calls. Both have more chips than you. You look down and you have pocket aces.

What do you do?

why would you lay down pocket aces at any stage pre flop?
its the best starting hand, and you are unlucky to lose with it once you are heads up with all your chips in there pre flop, its a bit different if ther were 6-7 people all in then you look down and see AA because your chances have about halved but you would be a bad player if you folded in a heads up situation

First of all, if it was a satellite with only three positions paying, and two people were all in, with four people remaining - i'd lay it down in a heartbeat.

Heres why. There is no difference between finishing third or first, the only big difference is between third and fourth. I would rather lay down pocket aces and qualify for the next stage, than bust out in fourth.

As for this example, there is no way i'd lay the hand down. If i bust on the bubble, at least i have a great bad beat story to tell!

Yeah, I'm either walking away with a guaranteed $13,000 or a "great bad beat story". You go for what you like, Doug, but bad beat stories don't pay the bills.
